박주언 (Jueon Park, b.2002)은 2025년 시카고 예술대학(SAIC)에서 B.F.A. 학위를 취득한 후 서울과 시카고를 기반으로 활동 중인 회화 작가이다. 주한미국 성북동 부대사관저와 풀만 앰배서더 서울 이스트폴 등에서 개인전을 개최하였다. 나아가 키아프(KIAF), 시카고 엑스포(EXPO CHICAGO), 아트 파리(Art Paris), 화랑미술제 등 국제적인 플랫폼에서 작품을 선보였고, 시카고 오헤어 국제공항 유나이티드 폴라리스 라운지에 작품이 소장되어 있다.
그는 회화 재료의 물성이 어떤 대상을 설명하는 수단이 되는 대신 스스로 말하는 추상을 추구한다. 이를 위해 시스템적인 반복 속에서 물감을 덮어씌우는 과정을 지속하며, 화면 위에 엄격한 규칙과 예측 불가능한 신체의 직관이 이루는 잠정적인 균형을 구축해 나간다.
Jueon Park (b. 2002) is a painter based in Seoul and Chicago who received his B.F.A. from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC) in 2025. He has held solo exhibitions at the U.S. Deputy Chief of Mission’s residence in Seongbuk-dong and Pullman Ambassador Seoul Eastpole. Furthermore, he has showcased his work on prominent international platforms, including KIAF, EXPO CHICAGO, Art Paris, and Korea Galleries Art Fair, and his work is included in the collection of the United Polaris Lounge at Chicago O'Hare International Airport.
He pursues an abstraction where the materiality of painterly mediums speaks for itself, rather than serving as a means to describe a subject. To achieve this, he continuously layers paint through systematic repetition, establishing a tentative equilibrium on the canvas between rigid rules and unpredictable physical intuition.
